USA PASSPORT HOLDER VISA REQUIREMENTS BY COUNTRY
Each country in Africa has its own visa requirements. We have provided a breakdown below for convenience. Regulations can change with little notice and so we advise checking with the relevant country’s embassy if you have any doubts closer to travel.
NO VISA REQUIRED FOR USA PASSPORT HOLDERS:
Botswana – No visa required for stays up to 90 days.
Mozambique – No visa required for stays up to 30 days under the visa exemption program.
- Additional Fee: Pay a processing fee of MZN 650 ($11 USD) per person on arrival.
- Important Note: Regulations frequently change; double-check for the latest updates.
South Africa No visa required for stays up to 90 days.
Zambia No visa required.
VISA ON ARRIVAL FOR USA PASSPORT HOLDERS:
Namibia
Current Visa Type: Single entry visa for $50 USD.
Upcoming Changes (Starting 1 April 2025): Nationals from 32 countries, including the UK, USA, and Canada, will require a visa on arrival.
Additional Information: From 1 April 2024, visa fees for travelers from non-African Union member states will increase from N$1200 to N$1600 per person.
Zimbabwe
Visa Type: Obtain a visa upon arrival for $30 USD.
Special Note: If entering Zimbabwe from Zambia via land, purchase the Kaza Visa on arrival in Zambia for $50 USD.
eVISA IN ADVANCE FOR USA PASSPORT HOLDERS:
Kenya
- Visa Type: Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA)
- Application Process: Apply online on the Kenya eTA Website before arrival. Allow up to 7 days for processing. Applications can be submitted up to 3 months before travel.
Tanzania
- Visa Type: Obtain a visa valid for 3 months.
- Application Process: Available in advance via the Tanzania e-visa website OR upon arrival
Uganda
- Visa Type: eVisa in advance.
- Application Process: Apply online on the Uganda eVisa Website before arrival. Allow up to 7 days for processing. Must have proof of yellow fever vaccination (International Health Certificate required). Fees: $50 for a single entry, $100 for a tourist visa.
