Experience
Botswana

Waterways, deserts, and some of Africa’s wildest spaces.

About
Botswana

Few countries offer contrasts quite like Botswana. Rain falling in the highlands of Angola travels slowly south through the Okavango system, reaching Botswana during the dry season. Here, it spreads across the Kalahari sands, filling channels, floodplains, and islands with water and abundance.

Beyond the Delta, the Makgadikgadi Pans stretch towards the horizon carrying an ancient and remote energy that needs to be felt to be understood. Linyanti and Chobe offer riverine forests, open floodplains, and remarkable wildlife.

Small aircraft connect remote camps, nights are often spent under canvas, and the sounds of the bush continue long after dark. Luxury is present, but it rarely separates you from the wilderness.

Destination highlights

  • Follow the floodwaters into the Okavango Delta. Each area offers a different balance of water, dry land, activities, and wildlife.
  • Sleep under canvas in the Kalahari. Cross the immense Makgadikgadi Pans, meet habituated meerkats, and experience the stillness of the desert.
  • Spend time with San guides. An opportunity to learn about their deep knowledge of the Kalahari’s wildlife, plants, and changing seasons.
  • Follow the rivers north. Linyanti’s private reserves offer excellent elephant and predator viewing, while Chobe is known for the wildlife drawn to its river.
  • Experience safari differently. Game drives remain at the heart of a Botswana safari, but you may also be able to walk, paddle, cruise, cycle, quad bike, horse ride, sleep beneath the stars, or fly over the Delta.

Why we love Botswana

Botswana has deliberately followed a high-value, low-volume approach to tourism in its most environmentally sensitive areas, favoring small camps and fewer visitors over mass tourism. This approach has helped many of its private concessions retain a sense of raw, uncrowded wilderness.

Limited vehicle numbers give guides the time and space to approach wildlife sightings patiently, without placing unnecessary pressure on the animals. This philosophy closely reflects how we believe safari should be experienced: thoughtfully, respectfully, and with enough space for wildlife to behave naturally.
