Founded as a hybrid organization, with both commercial and charitable arms, Great Plains Conservation and its Foundation are committed to securing African landscapes of a scale large enough to also protect the resident and seasonal wildlife populations. In order to do this, the Foundation identifies and selects key areas that are under threat, often next to national parks, World Heritage Sites, and reserves, and acquires the rights to convert that land to protected areas with economic benefits. Their collection of world-class safari camps are also global leaders in sustainability, demonstrating that commercial operations can positively benefit landscapes when done correctly.
This is one of the projects we give our thumbs-up to, especially because Great Plains Conservation has committed, alongside industry partner andBeyond, to undertake a relocation of no less than 100 rhinos (a magnitude never done before) from South Africa to safe havens in Botswana.
