Get ready for a luxury experience with on-demand showers, world-class dining experiences, and endless phenomenal game view opportunities. Your safari begins in Arusha (Tanzania) at a boutique lodge situated on a coffee farm outside of town.
Next, you’ll drive to a beautiful tented camp in a private concession (with no other camps) bordering Tarangire National Park and Lake Manyara National Park. Here you’ll have the private tented camp and surrounding area all to yourself in this vital community-protected wildlife corridor. The area is known for its large herds of elephants, ancient Baobab trees, and flamingo-filled lakes.
From here, you’ll continue to your mobile tented camp in the Serengeti, which follows the herds of millions of wildebeest and zebra as they move across the plains. You’ll enjoy a private safari camp, including your own dining area, lounge, tents, and of course, an expert safari guide and vehicle. The guiding and location will give you excellent chances to witness the herds trying to cross the Mara River.
Your trip concludes with an epic seven-day ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, also known as the roof of Africa. Highlights include Kilimanjaro, Afromontane forest, Shira plateau, glacial valleys, alpine desert, views of Mawenzi, the ascent of Kibo, and possible views of Kibo caldera and ash pit. This itinerary is for the active traveler looking for an immersive experience in some of Africa’s more remote safari destinations. Highlights include incredible wildlife viewing on foot, by boat, by air, and in a vehicle. Come along to see some of the wildest areas in Botswana and Zambia.
Your trip begins in the Mopane Woodlands on the edge of the Okavango Delta. You’ll witness animals drinking at the waterhole in front of the lodge. A place where herds of elephants, giraffes, zebras, and rarer species like roan and eland constantly roam.
You’ll then sleep out under the stars in a luxury treehouse with fully ensuite platforms safely elevated above the ground. Next, spend an afternoon “elephant cage diving,” which is the aptly named elephant hide nearby where you’ll get up close to Africa’s largest animal.
End your trip in the heart of the world-famous Okavango Delta. A place where you’ll encounter huge herds of elephants and buffalo and likely prides of lions. If you’re lucky, you may also see leopards and endangered wild dogs, who are Africa’s most efficient hunters.
Your camp is located on a riverine system filled with water from the annual floods. The private game reserve offers maximum flexibility for night drives, off-roading, guided walks, and mokoro canoeing.
From Botswana, continue up to Zambia for an epic adventure visiting the iconic South Luangwa Valley (home to the Zambia Predator Project), Liuwa Plains (one of the most vital areas managed by African Parks), and the Zambezi River Valley (home to the Zambezi Joy Society).
This itinerary begins in Samburu National Park in northern Kenya. You’ll search for elephants, lions, and other animals in 4×4 vehicles, on foot with Samburu warrior guides, and by exhilarating rides on quad bikes.
A helicopter excursion will take you to the Matthews Range, where you’ll be able to spot various wildlife from a bird’s eye view. A private visit to Reteti Elephant Sanctuary – the first community-owned and run elephant sanctuary, is next on the list. Finally, you’ll have the opportunity to dip in the world’s largest permanent desert lake, Lake Turkana, and explore the rarely visited sand dunes of northern Kenya.
Continue onwards to the Masai Mara Game Reserve, home to Africa’s iconic wildlife – especially big cats and elephants. Wake up early one morning to float peacefully above the plains in a hot air balloon and enjoy a bush breakfast upon landing.
Slow down the pace of your safari on foot with a Maasai warrior walk – search for rare birds and smaller wildlife like leopard tortoise.
Finally, you’ll fly to Rwanda to trek for mountain gorillas in Rwanda’s Virunga National Park, one of the most intimate experiences you can have with an animal on foot. This is the safari of a lifetime!
