Tina Aponte, owner of Royal Chundu luxury safari lodge in Zambia, had a big dream for the Zambezi Joy Society.
“There is so much talent and passion all around us at Royal Chundu,” she explains. “We’ve always endeavored to support local artists through the lodge as much as possible. After much interest from our travelers, we’re now sharing these talents with the rest of the world too. It was by combining this dream with my love for colorful Chitenge-infused table settings for gatherings, simple or grand, with family for friends, that the Royal Chundu online shop was born. It’s an online marketplace to connect travelers with the inspiring artisans of Zambia, who constantly keep busy, working and creating, to ensure that they can feed and support their families.”
The Royal Chundu, boasting a 76%-female management team, lives by the philosophy is that one shouldn’t do anything that doesn’t directly benefit the community that one is embedded in. The Zambezi Joy Society does exactly that, and we couldn’t agree more with their business philosophy.
